The ENVISON Leadership Development Program came to a successful conclusion for 18 members of the cohort at Red River College this spring, at an April celebration that marked the completion of the year-long pilot program.
The event, which was attended by the entire College executive, as well as managers and project mentors, included cohort team presentations of four Applied Projects of significant value to the College: an Exit Interview Process, a Professional Learning Community, Test Bank Development and a Performance Support Initiative.
In his opening remarks, Interim RRC President David Rew shared that “ENVISION was developed as part of a comprehensive leadership strategy for the institution. The makeup of the program was sequenced to move the cohort from foundational theory into action — and application — over the course of a year.”
During a touching presentation of program certificates to each cohort member, Vice President Human Resource Services and Sustainability Lori Grandmont told guests that “ENVISION is, above all, an investment in our institution — an investment in our talent, and in our future success, for both staff and students.”
Few post-secondary institutions in North America are delivering an integrated, in-house program of ENVISION’s scope to its emerging leaders, and Red River College is proud to be among those schools leading the way. Key to the success of the program are the cohort members themselves — from a rigorous selection process, the 18 committed members included six faculty and 12 non-faculty spanning 14 departments. Since the program’s inception, three members have already moved into formal leadership roles — and all members have benefitted from the leadership knowledge, application and relationship-building delivered through this intensive program.
An evaluation framework has been developed and will be administered to measure the program’s success over the summer. Once complete, program updates will be made based on feedback and the hope is for a new ENVISION intake to roll out in 2016.
Red River College is proud of the accomplishments of its inaugural ENVISION graduates, and looks forward to what lies ahead as they pursue their career development goals and continue to make a difference to our institution.
