This January and February, “Warm Your Heart with Cheer” with a Cheers for Peers card! Every Cheers for Peers card through February, will be entered to win a chance to choose a “soup of the day” at Notre Dame Campus, name the “soup of the day,” and a RED card to both winners so that you can try your soup (that day or other day).
Here’s a quick recap on how the program works:
• Write a Cheers Card
• Put the yellow copy in the Cheers Boxes around Campus
• Give the white copy to the person it’s written for
• Enjoy the feel good feeling of gratitude and appreciation
The winning nominator and nominee will be announced in March.
Tips for writing a “valid” Cheers for Peers card: In order to preserve the quality and integrity of the program, it’s important that cards meet some basic criteria. We call this writing a “valid card.”
The Staff Appreciation and Recognition Committee (SARC) has approved the following criteria:
- Date is legible
- Sender’s full name and department are complete and legible
- Receiver’s full name and department are complete and legible
- At least one College value is checked
- Accolade is legible and refers to a specific action or actions
Note: If you’re making reference to a student in your Cheers card, please avoid the use of specific names to protect confidentiality. Our Cheers Champions are responsible for reviewing cards and confirming validity. Once validity is confirmed, the giver and receiver both receive points.
If a card is not deemed valid (and this does NOT happen often!), the copy is forwarded to the SARC Co-Chairs who will reach out to the sender with feedback. In this situation, we can’t assign points but the card will still be forwarded to the recipient’s manager – this way, both the recipient and the manager still get to see the positive intent behind the card!
