Teaching Essentials

Educational Resources

Academic integrity, a collaborative process, requires instructors and students to commit to teaching and learning with integrity. The course syllabus provides an introduction to academic integrity. Ongoing communication ensures students know how to meet and understand academic integrity expectations.

To build a culture of integrity:

  • promote academic integrity from day one and continue the discussion throughout the course
  • talk about, model and communicate expectations, using positive, proactive language building trust and rapport with students
  • provide examples and communicate to students what they should not be doing during class, and while completing assignments, quizzes, tests and exams
  • provide examples from industry to make integrity relevant to professional studies
  • create case studies relevant to the course and industry to analyze the best options
  • support and encourage students to fully demonstrate academic integrity in the context of the course
