Personal Travel

All employees are expected to follow all pertinent health and safety protocols and not attend campus if they are experiencing COVID-19 or flu-like symptoms.

International travellers must follow self-isolation (quarantine) and testing guidance outlined in the Federal Quarantine Act. The Government of Canada currently advises to avoid non-essential travel outside Canada, regardless of your vaccination status.

If you are returning from travel, notify RRC Polytech Health Services at 204-632-2238. A nurse from the Health Centre will advise you on steps you need to take next, follow up to provide support as needed, and advise you on when you can return to campus.

If you are self-isolating and are able to work, the following options would apply:

  1. Work from home where appropriate. Working from home guidelines have been developed to support managers and employees.
  2. Use of vacation, Voluntary Reduced Work Week (VRWW), and/or overtime.
  3. Use of sick leave or other forms of approved leave.

A sick note is not required. Should you not have enough leave to cover the self-isolation period, it will be recorded as approved leave without pay.

Visit the Government of Canada website for the most up to date travel information, including self-isolation and testing requirements.
