Values and Ethics Series (Self-Study)

All modules in the Values and Ethics Series can be completed entirely online and at your own pace. These modules are foundational to your success in the ENVISION program and must be completed ahead of the program’s start date in the Fall of 2021.

4 Seasons of Reconciliation

4 Seasons of Reconciliation is an online course developed under the guidance of the Indigenous Advisory Circle and the First Nations University of Canada. This learning resource promotes a renewed relationship between Indigenous Peoples and Canadians through transformative learning about truth and reconciliation.

Anti-Racism: A Journey to Allyship

The Anti-Racism: A Journey to Allyship course is uniquely designed to raise your awareness of diversity, equity and inclusion and to challenge Red River College’s community of leaders, faculty, staff, and students to take action when confronted with racism and discrimination. 

This course is informed by the College’s HI and H2 policies that promote a respectful and inclusive workplace and learning environment.

Respectful Workplace and Learning Environment

This self-directed course introduces you to the key policies and procedures that support Red River College’s commitment to creating and maintaining a respectful and inclusive learning environment. 

This course is organized into a series of modules that will encourage you to explore College policy to learn how and who these policies apply to. You will also be guided on how to report incidents of harassment, discrimination, or sexual violence to management and HR.

Leadership and Personal Development Series (Live)

All modules in the Leadership and Personal Development Series will be delivered live in a classroom or virtual learning environment. These modules are designed to help you build your leadership competencies while developing your self-awareness and emotional intelligence skills.

MBTI for Leaders

The Meyers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) instrument is the most widely used personality assessment in the world. 

In this module, you will gain a deeper understanding of your personality type and leadership preference. You will also be taught how to leverage your individual strengths to achieve greater results for yourself and for any team you may find yourself working on at the College.

Emotional Intelligence

This module will provide you with an overview of emotional intelligence (EI) and its importance to building and sustaining a strong leader. Prior to attending this all-day session, you will complete a self-assessment to identify your EI score. In class, you will review your results and develop an action plan to address specific areas of opportunity.  

By completing this module, you will deepen your capacity for evaluation of self and others, for motivating yourself, and for managing your emotions and behaviours in and outside of the workplace.

Leadership Styles

In this module, you will explore 6 key leadership styles and explore how they are applied at the College. After completing a self-assessment to identify your leadership strengths and challenges, you will attend an in-class learning event to develop further insights on your leadership preferences and how they are applied on the job.

By the end of this workshop, you will feel prepared to create and follow an action plan to enhance your leadership competencies through ongoing personal and professional development opportunities.

RRC Leaders in Action

This module offers you an exciting opportunity to connect with RRC’s senior leaders and the project leads of various College-wide initiatives. By participating in this panel discussion, you will gain insight on the leadership styles used by various leaders at the College by learning about their key roles and responsibilities and exploring their approaches to common organizational challenges. 

By the end of this module, you will have a clearer idea of the types of project teams you will participate on as you complete your final applied project.

Applied Management Series (Live)

All modules in the Applied Management Series will be delivered live in a classroom or virtual learning environment. These modules are designed to help you develop the technical competencies required to successfully manage projects while coping with change. You will also examine the Human Resources and Financial Services units at RRC to develop your human resource and financial management skills.

Project Management

This module introduces you to basic project management principles and techniques to help you plan and manage a project successfully. Through various hands-on activities, you will explore the differences between a team charter, project charter, and project plan template.

You will also draft a project charter for your applied project with guidance and feedback from your session instructor.

Change Management: Delivering Project Results

This results-oriented workshop uses the project you are currently working on to introduce you to common change management language and techniques. You will explore the PROSCI framework for change management along with the ADKAR model. 

This workshop will help you better understand and map the parallel importance of change management in meeting your project’s objectives.

Human Resources Fundamentals

In this module, you will explore the steps in the recruitment process as well as labour relationships in a unionized environment from the perspective of a College employee. 

Through in-class activities and discussions, you will become acquainted with Red River College’s new performance support framework and examine the role of managers in administering performance reviews and evaluations.

Financial Services Fundamentals

In this module, you will take a closer look at Red River College’s Financial Services unit. Through focused discussions led by guest speakers and practical in-class activities, you will be introduced to several financial management practices that will help you build your financial management and leadership skills.

Elective Modules (Live and Self-Study)

You will complete four required electives over the course of the ENVISION program. Electives will be posted on this page for cohort members to select from as they complete the program.

Electives may be flexibly scheduled into your workday and can be completed through attendance at a live in-class or virtual session offered through the ENABLE and ENGAGE programs. You can also fulfil your elective requirements by completing a variety of online self-study options offered through LinkedIn Learning. Throughout this program, you will be provided with a list of suggested playlists specifically designed to help you develop your leadership skills.
