Overview
Research and scholarly activity is important to the College’s polytechnic model of education and as such, faculty and staff play important roles which are worthy of recognition. The Research Excellence Award is awarded to individuals and teams who have:
- Made an outstanding contribution in support of applied research; and/or
- Contributed to establishing an environment which welcomes research and/or supported others in their research endeavors; and/or
- Made an outstanding contribution to a course, project, program and/or community partner.
This award celebrates the behaviours, actions and attitudes demonstrated by employees over the past calendar year. All employees may submit nominations.

Name: Research Excellence Award
Nominations Open: March 8, 2021
Nominations Close: March 26, 2021
Award Frequency: Once annually
Number of Awards: Up to two. From nominations received, the BRAVO Selection Committee aims to select one individual award recipient and one team* award recipient. However, the BRAVO Selection Committee reserves the right to select recipients from any category for each of the two Research Excellence Awards.
*A team is defined as a group of employees who belong to the same or different units or departments and who are assigned to a specific project or function together for a period of time to accomplish shared goals.
Who Can Nominate: All employees may submit nominations for their peers. Nominees may be full or part-time staff, and they may be in any employee group (administrative support, service support, professional/technical, faculty/instructors, management, contract/adjunct).
Award Value: The recipient selected by the RRC Selection Committee will receive: Formal recognition and presentation of a beautiful etched glass award at this year’s RED Forum and acknowledgement in Staff News and other media throughout the College community.
