Overview

The Diversity and Inclusion Excellence Award provides an opportunity to recognize individual employees, teams, groups or networks demonstrating an exceptional effort and/or sustained commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion by:

  • Leading, organizing and engaging employees, students, and/or the members of the college community in inclusion initiatives;
  • Removing barriers and supporting the recruitment and retention of diverse faculty, staff and/or students;
  • Developing intersectional programming or related initiatives;
  • Strengthening outreach to EDI sector and community partnerships; or,
  • Other initiatives that foster an environment of equity, diversity and inclusion.

This award celebrates the behaviours, actions, and attitudes demonstrated by employees over the past calendar year.

Name: Diversity and Inclusion Excellence Award
Nominations Open: January 24, 2022
Nominations Close: February 18, 2022
Award Frequency: Once annually

Number of Awards: Up to four. From nominations received, the BRAVO Selection Committee aims to select one individual recipient from a faculty group and one from a non-faculty group, as well as up to two team award recipients. However, the BRAVO Selection Committee reserves the right to select recipients from any category for each of the four Diversity and Inclusion Excellence Awards.

Note: A team is defined as a group of employees who belong to the same or different units or departments and who are assigned to a specific project or function together for a period of time to accomplish shared goals.

Eligibility: Nominee(s) may be any full or part-time employee; or team of employees demonstrating exceptional commitment to pursuing equity, diversity and inclusion. Candidates should be nominated based on meritorious service above and beyond the duties assigned to their positions.

Who Can Nominate: All employees may submit nominations for their RRC Polytech peers. Nominators may be full or part-time staff, and they may be in any employee group (administrative support, service support, professional/technical, faculty/instructors, management, contract/adjunct).

Award Value: The recipient selected by the RRC Polytech BRAVO Selection Committee will receive: Formal recognition and presentation of a beautiful etched glass award at this year’s RED Forum and acknowledgement in Staff News and other media throughout the College community.
