First Impressions – Hiring for Industry Event: Student Information

Overview

Please join us for the 10th annual First Impressions – Hiring for Industry event! Spend an afternoon speed-interviewing with employer representatives from different industries!

Date: Wednesday, February 14, 2024
Time: 11am to 4pm
Location: RRC Polytech Notre Dame Campus – North Gym

This is a great opportunity for you to meet with industry experts, learn about the different careers in your field, and possibly secure employment! 

You will be granted an excused absence from class to attend your scheduled interview(s).

On Wednesday, February 14, employers will be on campus to conduct 10-minute interviews with students in the following programs: 

Business

  • Applied Accounting
  • Business Accountancy CE
  • Business Administration
  • Business Management CE
  • Commerce Industry Sales and Marketing

Information Technology

  • Business Information Technology
  • Business Technology Management
  • Data Science and Machine Learning
  • Full-Stack Web Development
  • Information Security

In order to be shortlisted for an interview, you must apply for one or more of the positions posted on RRC Polytech’s career portal, Career Bridge, labeled “First Impressions”. The positions can be entry level or higher, full- or part-time, career or co-op jobs, and are either current postings or future opportunities.

Steps to participate

  1. Attend a First Impressions prep session
    Attend a First Impressions prep session to learn more about the event, including the application and selection process, and what to expect on the day of the event.

  2. Review First Impressions job postings
    On November 27, log in to Career Bridge and under Career Job Postings, use the keywords “First Impressions” to search for First Impressions job postings 
  3. Submit your applications
    Create applications tailored to each job posting you are interested in and submit them by January 11
  4. Book your interviews
    On February 2, if you have been invited to interview, you can schedule them straight from your Career Bridge Dashboard
  5. Attend the event
    On February 14, attend the event and give the employers a great first impression!

Application and Interview Process

On November 27, log into your RRC Hub student account and click the Career Bridge icon and search for First Impressions job postings by using the keywords “First Impressions” under Career Job Postings. Submit your tailored applications for each job posting you are interested in by January 11.

Note: For more detailed information on how to apply for First Impressions job postings, register for First Impressions prep sessions.

After January 11, employers will review the submitted resumes and select the applicants they wish to interview via Career Bridge. Students who have been selected to interview will receive a notification via their academic email. Interview invitations will also appear on the Career Bridge Dashboard.

As employers have only 17 interview slots, it is extremely important for your cover letter and resume to be professional and tailored to each position.

Important: By accepting a scheduled interview with an employer, you have promised to show up. If something changes for you, it is your responsibility to let the employer know as soon as possible so that the interview slot is not wasted and your reputation is not tarnished. Please note that the first interviews will begin promptly at 11:15am.
