Women’s Soccer team MVP

Head Coach Doug Lawrie had the following to say about Paterson “ Ashley’s play as a centre-back was instrumental to our success in soccer this year. She is an extremely athletic and determined player. She closed down attacking opponents very quickly and without fail eliminated threats. She also took on the team captaincy after week 2 due to a season ending injury to our captain. She was a great captain – always positive and motivating our team, and keeping our back four well organized. Ashley was a major factor in achieving a remarkable, team goals against of six in 10 league games, and five shutouts. Her absence for the MCAC Championship semi-final, due to injury in our final league game, was a huge blow to our playoff hopes, and truly showed how important she was to the team.” Paterson wasn’t just a great teammate on the field but as well as off the field she would always hangout with her teammates and try to build the team chemistry off the field so they can apply that on the field when they play together.
This is what Paterson had to say about her time with the Rebel’s “Coming into my final season with only a couple returning players made us all very anxious, we talked about folding but the ones committed we were ready to fight. We managed to pick up a few more players and had an amazing core group of girls. We played strong, working together while having no subs. I’m so proud of the amazing group of girls I got to work with this year, just wish we had one more season together.” Congratulation’s to Ashley Paterson on being the team MVP!
