Rebels volleyball and futsal teams were in action this past weekend with mixed results as they jockey for MCAC playoff position.
The Rebels men’s futsal team picked up their first win of the season, a 5-4 decision over the USB Rouges at home on Sunday. Eduardo Bardella and Bailey Novicki scored twice each for the Rebels. The women’s futsal team did not fare as well, losing 3-2 to the Rouge. Brianne Jamieson the lone goal scorer for the Rebels. With the loss, the lady Rebels sit in 3rd place in MCAC standings while the men’s team is tied for 5th. Both teams travel to Otterbourne on Saturday to face the PUC Pilots.
Both Rebels volleyball teams struggled this weekend, losing games on the road to USB and PUC. Friday night at St.Boniface the scores were 3-1 (25-18, 25-21, 18-25, 25-10) women, 3-1 (25-23, 24-26, 25-22, 25-13) men and on Saturday against the Pilots 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 28-26) women and 3-2 (25-19, 21-25, 17-25, 26-24, 15-10) men. The teams travel to Brandon this weekend with games against the ACC Cougars Friday night and Saturday afternoon.
Finally, the Rebels basketball teams had a weekend off to prepare for the upcoming MCAC basketball championships. The women Rebels face the PUC Pilots Friday night at 6:00pm in the women’s semi, with the winner facing the CMU Blazers Saturday at 2:00pm in the final, while the men’s team have already qualified the men’s final for 4pm, all games hosted by CMU.
