The last weekend of January had all 6 court sport teams in action, with the Rebels having games at home, away in Winnipeg and across the border in South Dakota.
The Rebels women’s futsal team continued their winning ways with a 7-2 win over the CMU Blazers Friday night. Logan Bresciani led the attack with a hat trick while Brianne Jamieson chipped in with 2 goals of her own. The win improves their record to 3-1-1 on the season and they are in 2nd place at the halfway mark. The men’s Rebels are still looking for their 1st MCAC win of the season after losing 12-3 to the Blazers. Both teams next host the USB Rouges Sunday in the North Gym, women’s game starting at 1:115pm.
Both basketball teams faced stiff competition in Sisseston, SD against Sissestion Wahpeten CC over the weekend. The men’s team lost a pair of close games, 104-103 and 112-87 while the women fell 74-68 and 79-73 (OT). In spite of the losses both teams have clinched NIAC playoff spots, and the men’s team host Oak Hills this weekend Friday and Saturday to finish up the regular season.
Finally, a tough weekend for Rebels volleyball, with both teams falling to St.Boniface, women 3-1 and men 3-2. Both teams travel to USB Friday night for a rematch, followed up with a road game again the PUC Pilots.
