The Rebels women’s volleyball team remains undefeated in MCAC league play while the Rebels men’s basketball teams split a pair of game with a Manitoba rival this past weekend.
Remaining unbeaten after their first 4 games, the Rebels Women’s Volleyball team had another strong weekend, sweeping the PUC Pilots 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-17) Friday night at home and 3-0
(25-23, 25-23, 25-23) Saturday on the road. Reigning player of the week Brooke Paulsen led the Rebels Friday night with 4 kills while second year player Sara Meisner chipped in with 5 serving aces.
Unfortunately the Rebels men’s volleyball team are still looking for their first MCAC win of the season, losing both games to the Pilots 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-17) Friday and again 3-0 (25-23, 25-15, 25-12) Saturday. Both teams next face the USB Rouges in a home and home series, Friday night at St.Boniface and Saturday evening in the North Gym, women’s game starting at 6pm.
The Rebels men’s basketball team earned a split with the PUC Pilots over the weekend with both teams winning on their home courts. Friday night, the Rebels lost 90-80, but avenged themselves Saturday with a 72-54 victory. Garnett McLeod led the Rebels Saturday night with 17 points while 2nd year forward Mark Ridd added 10 points and 9 rebounds. The women’s team did not fare as well losing both games by the scores of 60-45 and 63-29. Kaelei Daniels led the women with 11 points and 9 boards Saturday night.
Both teams host Trinity Bible College for a pair of NIAC games this upcoming weekend, 6pm on Friday and 12:00pm Saturday starts for the women’s games, men’s following after.
