Another busy January weekend for Rebels Athletics with all 6 teams in action over the weekend.
The men’s and women’s Rebels Basketball teams hosted their new NIAC league rivals, Sisseton Wahpeton College (South Dakota) Friday and Saturday with mixed results. The men’s team split their weekend games, losing 98-78 on Friday, then rebounding with a 83-78 victory on Saturday. Forward Steve Willamson lead the team on Saturday with a huge 30 point game. Unfortunately the women Rebels lost both games to the SWC Mustangs, 81-61 and 66-63. In NIAC standings, the men’s team sits 5th with a 6-4 record, while the ladies also hold down the 5th spot with a 5-5 record. Both teams finish their MCAC/NIAC regular season’s this weekend with a home and home series against the PUC Pilots. Friday night at Providence, Saturday night here in the North Gym, with the men’s game starting at 6pm.
The women’s volleyball team continued their strong season with a dominant 3-0 (28-26, 25-21, 25-18) over Les Rouges from USB. They currently sit in MCAC 2nd place with a 8-4 record. Both volleyball teams host the CMU Blazers on Friday, with the men’s game starting at 6 pm.
Finally, the Rebels futsal teams were on the road this weekend with games at PUC and CMU. On Friday, the Rebels were swept by the Pilots, 6-5(men) and 5-3(women). The Rebels then suffered the same fate against the Blazers on Saturday losing 9-5(men) and 8-6(women). Both teams have a week off before hosting USB on Friday Feb.9th, men’s game starting at 6pm.
