The Rebels women’s volleyball team had a successful weekend, winning both of their MCAC league games. On Friday at St.Boniface, they defeated Les Rouge 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-22). Larissa Namaka led the way with 5 kills and 3 serving aces. Chloe Orteza also had a strong game with 6 kills and 1 serving ace.
The Rebels then came home Saturday night and defeated the CMU Blazers 3-1 (25-21,21-25,25-16,26-24). Nicole Wiebe starred with 11 kills and 2 aces while middle Ashley Goodwin supplied 11 kills, 14 digs and 3 blocks of her own. The two wins improved the team’s record to 5-2 and 2nd in the MCAC.
Unfortunately the men’s volleyball team are still looking for their first regular season wins of the year, losing to USB 3-0 (26-24, 25-18, 25-13) and CMU 3-0 (23-25,15-25,21-25). Both teams finish the first half of the season at home on Saturday December 2nd hosting the PUC Pilots.
Both Rebels basketball teams split their MCAC games over the weekend. At home on Friday, the women’s team lost to the CMU Blazers 59-52. Lacey Finnbogason led with 20 points and 10 rebounds. The Rebel women then defeated PUC in Otterbourne on Saturday, 69-47 to improve their MCAC record to 4-2.
The Rebels men’s basketball team earned their first MCAC win of the season on Friday, defeating the Blazers 94-78. Jared Gairing led the team in scoring with 26 points forward Mitch Podworny added 13 points and 9 rebounds. The Rebels then fell to the Pilots on Saturday, losing 85-75. Both basketball teams finish their first season halfs with a pair of NIAC games in Ellendale North Dakota against Trinity Bible College this weekend.
