The Rebels basketball teams opened their seasons, hosting an exhibition game against the Ambrose University College Lions (Calgary) from the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference Thursday Nov.28th. The women Rebels fell to the Lions 77-61. Robelie Aaron led the Rebels with 12 points scored, while guard Jodene Kowalchuk had a strong game with 11 points of her own. The men’s team was able to earn some revenge, defeating the Lions 78-71. Chris Demauleon-Bartolay lead the Rebels with 28 points while 2nd year play Steve Williamson chipped in with 10 points. The men’s team next travels to Alberta on Thanksgiving weekend, where they face Ambrose and Olds College in a pair of exhibition games.
The Rebels soccer teams were also in action this past weekend, facing Les Rouges from St.Boniface at Memorial Field on Saturday Sept. 30th. Unfortunately both teams got the short end of the stick, with women losing 1-0 and the men’s team falling 2-0. Both teams have the upcoming weekend off, followed by hosting a pair of games on Oct 14 against Providence and Oct 15 vs Assiniboine Community College.
Finally, the Rebels men’s volleyball team hosts their annual Thanksgiving tournament this weekend, where all five MCAC teams will be competing. Games will happen Friday night and all day Saturday in the North Gym.
