All 6 Rebels teams resumed MCAC league play this weekend after the holiday break, earning a 4-2 record overall.
The Men’s basketball team remain unbeaten in league play after blowing buy Providence University College Pilots 110-83. Guard John Wilner lead the Rebels with a spectacular 39 points, including 4 three pointers. Veteran forward Gliff Macalua chipped in with 15 points in the winning effort. The women’s team improved their MCAC record to 4-3 after defeating the Pilots 63-47. Both teams face CMU next weekend in home and home series games, with Friday’s game at RRC and Saturday’s at CMU. Both games start with the women’s game at 6:00pm.
The Rebels futsal teams started their seasons on the right foot sweeping the Pilots in Otterbourne Friday night, with the women winning 10-3 and men getting past the Pilots 8-5. Both teams host CMU Sunday Jan 22 in their home openers at the North Gym, women’s game starting at 6pm.
Finally, both Rebels volleyball teams struggled this weekend, losing both games to CMU. The women lost 3-0 (25-13, 25-19, 25,10) falling to a 5-7 record while the men’s team fell to the Blazers 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-14) and sit with a 1-11 record. Both teams head to St.Boniface to face the Les Rouge on Friday, followed by a home game against University of Winnipeg on Saturday, women’s game starting at 6pm.
