Another busy weekend for Rebels athletics with both men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball teams in action at home and across the border.
The Rebels women’s volleyball team are now riding a 3 game win streak after earning a pair of victories over the ACC Cougars this weekend. On Friday, they won 3-0 (25-18, 25-23, 25-16). Nikki Valgardson led the team with 13 kills and 15 digs while setter Sydney Curell had 33 assists along with 3 kills and 8 digs. On Saturday, the Rebels swept the Cougars again, 3-0 (25-23,25-17,25-16). Anika Gray led the Rebels with 11 kills and 5 digs. They currently sit in 2nd place in the MCAC with a 4-2 record.
The Rebels men’s volleyball team are still searching for their first victory of the MCAC season losing both of their matches to ACC, 3-1 (23-25, 25-20, 25-20, 25-14) and 3-0 (15-25,20-25,23-25). Next up, both teams host the CMU Blazers on Friday November 18th, women’s game starts at 6pm.
Rebels basketball teams crossed the border into America to play some exhibition games this weekend in Devils Lake, North Dakota. On Saturday, the women Rebels defeated Candeska Cikana Community College 58-51, then lost to Lake Region State College 105-39 on Sunday. Tiara Cruz and Robelie Aaron were the high scorers on Sunday with 10 points each.
The Rebels men’s team fell short,105-94 to Jamestown JV on Saturday. Then lost to a strong Lake Region team on Sunday, 104-64. Taylor Brown scored 18 points on Sunday, Kyle Queijo and Steve Willamson added 14 points each in the loss. Both teams head back to the States for exhibition games next weekend in Bottineau, ND against Dakota College and Jamestown JV.
