The Rebels women’s volleyball team has shown tremendous improvement this season and continued their strong play with a pair of well played games this weekend. On Friday night at home, they lost a heartbreaking 3-2 (25-18, 25-22, 25-22, 26-24, 16-14) decision to the always strong U of Winnipeg Wesmen. However, showing a resiliency not seen in past seasons, the Rebels defeated their Route 90 rivals, the CMU Blazers, 3-1 (23-25, 25-20, 26-24, 25-17) Saturday night. Rookie Sydney led the team during the weekend, amassing 62 assists and an impressive 19 digs over the two games. The Rebels currently sit in third place with a 3-2 record in the MCAC.
The Rebels men’s volleyball team is still searching for their first win of the MCAC season, losing to UW 3-1 (25-19, 25-12, 25-15, 25-17) on Friday and CMU 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-20) on Saturday. Both volleyball teams next host the ACC Cougars from Brandon on Friday November 11 at 6pm and Saturday November 12 at 1pm in the North Gym,
Finally, the Rebels men’s basketball team remain undefeated early into the MCAC season, beating the CMU Blazers 80-76 Friday evening. Jonathan Wilner led the Rebels with 18 points and 6 rebounds while veteran Taylor Brown added 12 points and 13 rebounds. Both men’s and women’s basketball teams head to Devil’s Lake, North Dakota this upcoming weekend for a pair of exhibition games each.
