Red River College Women’s Soccer is pleased to announce the commitment of Goalkeeper Brittany Derkacz for the 2016 MCAC season. Brittany played competitive and Premier youth soccer in WYSA with Wpg Phoenix FC from the age of 10. While still in youth Brittany also played regularly as a call-up for Phoenix Fury in senior Women’s Premier from the age of 16. Brittany attended Miles Macdonell Collegiate where she also played on the varsity team. In 2012 she backstopped Miles Mac’s championship run at the MHSAA Provincial finals and was selected as a tournament all-star. After youth Brittany continued to play senior women’s Premier and 1st Division with Sweat Shack and Wolves United. “It is a tremendous addition to our program to have a Goalkeeper of Brittany’s experience and skill join us” says Head Coach Doug Lawrie, “I have watched Brittany play and she has a poise and confidence in the position earned through many years of high level competition. This will in turn give her teammates in front of her the confidence to play boldly in defence and transition.”
Brittany graduated high school in 2013 and has been working full-time for Gardewine Transport as a Dispatcher. At RRC Brittany will be taking Business Administration courses for professional development related to her employment.
