February 10, 2016

The Rebels women’s basketball team have found their game at the right time, sweeping a pair of game over the weekend, including knocking off the previously undefeated and MCAC top team, CMU Blazers 58-40 Friday night. Lacey Finnbogosan led the Rebels with 15 points while Jodene Kowalchuk chipped in with 13 of her own. Lindsay Young had a huge outing as well, scoring 10 points and hauling in 14 rebounds. The Rebels followed this huge victory with a 60-42 exhibition game win over the USB Rouge Saturday night at home. With the win against CMU, the Rebels improved to 7-4 on the season and have clinched 2nd place in the MCAC playoffs. Both basketball teams finish the regular season at home on Thursday February 11th against the U of Winnipeg Wesmen, women’s game starting at 6:00pm. Red River College will be the hosts for the MCAC Basketball Championships, February 20-21, with all the games held in the North Gym on Notre Dame campus, semi-finals on Saturday, finals on Sunday.
