Rebels Weekend Wrap- Nov 27-28.

November 30, 2015

This weekend had only the two Rebels Basketball teams in action, both hosting the CMU Blazers in their respective home openers. Unfortunately for the Rebels, both openers were spoiled by the Blazers, with a pair of losses.

The women’s game was close from start to finish, the Rebels being edged out 58-49. Lacey Finnbogason led the Rebels with 12 points while Jodene Kowalchuk chipped in with 11 of her own. With the loss the Rebels fall to 2-2 in MCAC play and currently sit in 2nd place. The Rebels Men’s team still search for their first victory of the season, losing to CMU 93-61. The Rebels led 42-38 at half, but poor shooting and turnovers hurt the Rebels in the third quarter, that along with some strong offensive play by the Blazers was the Rebels undoing. Garnett McLeod led the Rebels with 12 points while Arsalan Zahher added 9. Adam Bergen of the Blazers led all scorers with 23 points.

The Rebels are back in action in the North Gym this weekend, hosting the PUC Pilots Friday December 4th, with the women’s game starting at 6:00pm.
