Weekend Wrap:Oct 3-4-Rebels Tame Cougars

A light weekend for both Rebel soccer teams, with each team hosting the ACC Cougars from Brandon on Sunday. Derek Tessier lead the men’s team to victory with a whopping seven goals in a 10-1 route of the Cougars. The Rebels improved their record to 3-2-1 on the season, and currently in fifth place and out of a playoff spot in the MCAC. The men’s team has a huge weekend ahead, with away games against at CMU (Winnipeg Outdoor Complex ) on Saturday Oct.10 at 1:30pm and St.Boniface (Memorial Park) on Sunday Oct.11 at noon.

The women’s Rebels completed the weekend sweep with a 7-0 victory against ACC. Goal scorers were Jessica Lister (4), Andrea Doerksen (1), Stephanie Morris (1), and Britnney Finnson (1). Coach Doug Lawrie’s Player of the Game was Kaelyn Vincent, who had a strong performance with five assists and four posts. With CMU’s loss in Brandon to Brandon University on Sunday, the Rebels have clinched first place in MCAC play. Their next game is at CMU (Winnipeg Soccer Complex) at 11:00am this Saturday Oct. 10th.
