Rebels Women’s Basketball Continue to Roll

The Women’s Rebels Basketball team continues to steamroll the competition defeating the University of Winnipeg Wesmen 74-42 tonight on the Notre Dame Campus of Red River College. Susie Namgung paced the Rebels with 18 points while rookie point guard Zeralynn Panesa had a strong game scoring 12 points and 5 assists. The win improves the record to 11-2 in MCAC play and clinches first place for the playoffs, which take place at Canadian Mennonite College, February 14 & 15.

The following men’s game was a huge surprise as the Rebels were upset by the Westmen 67-54. The loss was the first of the season for the Rebels, and tarnishes their record to 12-1. Taylor Brown led the Rebels in scoring with 17 points while the Wesmens Chris Demauleon-Bartolay led all scorers with 23 points. Even with the loss the Rebels have already clinched first place in the MCAC for the playoffs. Next actions for the men’s and women’s teams occur Saturday January 31st when they host CMU.
