Friday night basketball was good for the Red River College Rebels men’s and women’s teams has they picked up a pair of victories against the Canadian Mennonite University Blazers at home on Notre Dame Campus.
The women’s Rebels improved their record to 5-1 in MCAC league play with a thrilling 52-47 victory over CMU. Zera Lynn Panesa and Susie Namgung led the team in scoring with nine points each along with Theresa Garcia picking up 8 points of her own. The Rebels remain in second place in the MCAC, and face the number one ranked Providence Pilots Saturday night in Otterbourne.
The men’s Rebels dominated the Blazers with a 85-45 victory. Lloyd Hildebrand had a terrific game with 14 points along with guard Taylor Brown, who hit four three pointers to go with his 19 points. The Rebels remain undefeated with a perfect 6-0 record and wrap up the 2014 session of league play against the PCU Pilots Saturday night in Otterbourne.
