Another busy weekend for Rebels Athletics with both men’s and women’s volleyball and basketball teams competing in multiple games.
The Rebels men’s basketball team remain undefeated in MCAC league play, first defeating the CMU Blazers 90-60 Friday night at the Loewen Athletic Centre. The men’s team followed up with a 73-54 win over the University of Winnipeg Wesmen Saturday night at the Duckworth Centre.
The women’s basketball team also earned a pair of victories and improved their record to 3-1 on the season. The first took down CMU 57-53 on Friday, then hammered UofW 70-40 Saturday night. The basketball teams next game is Sunday November 16th at St.Boniface University in exhibition action.
The Rebels men’s volleyball team also remained undefeated in MCAC league play, earning a pair of victories over the visiting ACC(Brandon) Cougars on Saturday. In the morning game, the Rebels swept 3-0 (25-16,25-15,25-22), then followed up with a afternoon sweep 3-0 (25-9,25-13,25-19).
The women’s volleyball team did not fair as well, losing both games to ACC 3-1 (26-24, 25-23, 21-25, 25-19) and 3-1 (25-18, 12-25, 25-20, 25-23). They fall to 1-6 on the season. The volleyball teams are next in action on Friday November 14th at CMU, with the women’s game starting at 6:00pm.
