With the MCAC regular season now complete, both Rebels Men’s and Women’s soccer teams have qualified for MCAC Championship Weekend, October 25th and 26th at Providence University College in Otterburne, Manitoba.
The women’s team ended their regular season on a winning note, defeating a overmatched CMU Blazers team 5-1 on Saturday. Nadine Reimer led the attack with two goals, while Liz Codville, Stephanie Morris, and Jessica Lister rounded out the scoring. The Rebels finished league play in second place with a 5-1-2 record. They will face Brandon University at 9:00AM Saturday morning in one league semi, with Providence University College against Canadian Mennonite University in the other. In their two regular season games against BU, the Rebels tied 1-1 at home, then lost 1-0 in Brandon.
The men’s team continued it’s slump this weekend, losing to CMU 5-0 on Saturday and St.Boniface 3-2 on Sunday. The Rebels finish the season in third place with a 5-5 standing, and will face PUC in a semi-final at 3:30PM on Saturday. The Rebels split the season series with the Pilots, winning at Providence 5-2 in the first game, then dropping a 2-0 decision at home. The winner of this semi will face the winner of St.Boniface and CMU.
Both women’s and men’s MCAC Championship Finals will be held on Sunday October 26th, with the women’s game starting first at 1:00PM.
