It was a busy weekend for Rebels Athletics with both soccer and men’s volleyball teams in action. The men’s volleyball team kicked their season off in style by winning the inaugural Rebels Invitational Tournament. The three day event, with 8 teams from three different provinces showcased some of the best teams in Canadian Collegiate Volleyball.
The Rebels went through the round robin portion of the tournament with a 2-1 record, defeating Lakehead(Thunder Bay) and CMU while losing their only game of the weekend to Keyano College (Fort McMurray). After dispatching Providence in the semi-final, the Rebels won their rematch with Keyano in the final RRC 3 Keyano 1 (25-15,21-25,25-19,25-21). The Rebels regular season kicks off Saturday October 25h along with the women’s team against CMU in the North Gym starting at 6:00PM.
The Rebels soccer teams this weekend did not fare as well as the men’s volleyball team unfortunately, losing all four MCAC games over the weekend. The women’s team lost 3-0 and 1-0 to PUC and Brandon respectively while the men’s team lost 2-0 and 2-1 to PUC and Brandon as well.
