Rebels Men’s Soccer Split Weekend while Women’s Team Continue to Roll

October 5, 2014

The Rebels Men’s Soccer team split their games on this cold and wet weekend, first defeating ACC in Brandon on Saturday with a 5-1 victory. They followed up with a first place showdown against St.Boniface on Sunday at home. In cold and extreme wind, the Rebels fell to a early goal by the Rouge, with Cory Marquart answering with his own first half goal. A pair of St.Boniface goals in the second half gave them a 3-1 lead, Ben Grass scored on a penaly kick in extra time, but it wasn’t enough in the end and the Rebels suffered their first defeat of the season. The Rebels are now in second place with a 5-1 record, while USB sits in first with a 6-0-1 record.

The Rebels women’s team remains in first place after defeating ACC 3-0 on Saturday. Karla Henuset, Lisa Hayes and Melony Dittbrenner scored for the Rebels while Brittany Loschiavo earned the shutout. The Rebels improved their record to 5-0-1 and remain in first place in the MCAC.
