Red River College’s men’s and women’s soccer teams completed another succesful weekend in MCAC regular season play against long time rivals Providence University College and new league members Brandon University.
Under the guidance of coaches Jordan Goetting and Konrad Wazny, the men’s team won both of their games this weekend, powered by a high octane offense. On Saturday, on the road in Otterbourne, the men’s team stormed to a 5-2 victory over the Pilots. The team followed it up at home with 4-2 win over the BU Bobcats, highligted with strong games from Cory Marquant and Luiz Santos. The Rebels sit with a perfect 4-0 record and in first place.
Coach Doug Lawrie and Assitant Coach Leah Single squad continues to roll with a 3-1 win over PUC and a 1-1 tie against BU. The Rebels carried the play agianst the Bobcats on Sunday with Megan Castro scoring the lone goal. The Rebels were unable to earn the victory, thanks to strong defensive play from the Bobcats, but showed great team play and tactics throughout the match. The women’s team record is now 3-0-1 and they sit in first place in the MCAC.
Both teams resume their regular seasons in Brandon against ACC on Saturday Oct.4, with their next home game occuring Sunday Oct.5 versus St.Boniface.
