Rebels Volleyball Split with Providence University College

December 5, 2013

The Red River College Women’s Volleyball was unable to obtain a league win before the Christmas break losing 3-0 (19-25, 19-25, 18-25) to Providence University College, the lose drops the team to a 3-7 record while PUC improves to a perfect 8-0 in the MCAC.

“We had a gameplan again tonight which we were able to follow and found success in doing so.  When we got away from our game plan is when we started to fall behind.  Providence did exactly what we thought they would, they served tough and scored in transition for the most part of the night” stated Head Coach Chris MacLennan

“The girls again showed flashes of greatness with good serving, some excellent defense and some scrappy play to earn some tough points.  Our group has been dealing with some injuries including our setter Wilma Oombash who will benefit from some time off over the Christmas break to heal up and get back to work in the New Year”.

The Rebels Men’s team fared much better, defeating PUC for the second time in a row in league play 3-1 (25-19,25-18,19-25,25-20). With the win, RRC goes into the Christmas break with a sparking 8-2 record.

Co-Head Coach Dylan Power on the victory “I was really impressed with the play of Greg Kuz with his offense and Jarrell Taylor-Babb with his strong blocking” Power also added “I’ve noticed growth in all of the players both on and off the court this first half. The guys battle through adversity and constantly push and challenge each other to better than previous attempts.”
