Women’s soccer pleased to add new recruits

2013 New Recruits

Lisa Haynes

Red River College Athletics is pleased to announce the commitment of Lisa Haynes to the Women’s Varsity Soccer team for the 2013 MCAC season.

Lisa graduated from St Mary’s Academy in 2007. While at St Mary’s she was co-captain of her high school soccer team. Lisa played youth soccer in the Bonivital district in their Regional program.  Lisa has been playing women’s senior soccer in the WWSL Premier and 1st divisions since she was 17. In women’s soccer she has helped her teams win three Divisional championships and was selected MVP in several tournaments. Lisa is capable of playing any out position.

Lisa’s enthusiasm for soccer has also taken her into the coaching ranks. She has been coaching youth soccer for five years and has recently completed her CSA Senior Coach certification.

“I am very pleased to have someone of Lisa’s versatility join our team”, says Head Coach Doug Lawrie, “her ability to play all positions will allow me to put her where the team needs her most.”

Lisa is a graduate of the RRC Dental and Orthodontic Assistant program, and is currently enrolled in the Nursing Baccalaureate program.

Stephanie Nieroda

Red River College is pleased to announce the commitment of Stephanie Nieroda to the Women’s Varsity Soccer team for the upcoming 2013 MCAC season. Stephanie played her youth soccer in the St Charles Soccer District, playing for Portage Trail Soccer Club Premier and Regional teams. During her years with PTSC her teams qualified for four city finals, winning one city championship.  Stephanie plays Striker and Wing.

Stephanie graduated from Westwood Collegiate in 2010.

After youth Stephanie continued to play senior women’s soccer in the WWSL with the Hornets SC. She was the team’s top scorer in 2011 and finished third overall in her Division. “I know Stephanie very well as she also plays for me with the Hornets SC in the Women’s Senior League”, says Head Coach Doug Lawrie, “she is very athletic and has a tremendous shot.  What I like most about Stephanie is her enthusiastic attitude and love of the game. She will be a great addition to the Rebels.”

Stephanie will be enrolling in the Business Administration program.

Leah Single

Red River College Athletics is pleased to announce the commitment of Leah Single to the Women’s Varsity Soccer team for the 2013 MCAC season. Leah played youth soccer in the Bonivital Flames Premier program. With the Flames she won three MSA Cups and one USA Cup.

Leah graduated from Collège Béliveau in 2008, where she played high school soccer as well. After graduation she coached her high school team for one season. Leah plays Wing.

“Leah was referred to us by an alumni player and I am very pleased to see these lasting connections to Red River College soccer being built”, says Head Coach Doug Lawrie, “Leah will be a strong presence on our team with her skill and character”.

Leah is currently pursuing her diploma in Business Administration, and plans to major in Marketing.

Elizabeth Codville

Red River College Women’s Soccer is pleased to announce the commitment of Elizabeth Codville for the 2013 MCAC season. Elizabeth played youth soccer with FCNW Premier where she helped her teams reach MSA Cup or League finals on seven occasions.

She graduated from Sisler HS in 2009, where she also starred on her high school soccer team. In her Grade 12 season she was named Team Captain and led her team to the league championship. Elizabeth currently plays with Wolves United in the WWSL.

In Senior Women’s soccer she has been a Golden Boot winner and a team MVP. Elizabeth plays either Midfield or Forward.

“I am very pleased to have the commitment of a player of such quality to the Women’s soccer team”, says Head Coach Doug Lawrie, “she will add tremendous skill and punch to our attack”. Elizabeth will be entering the Early Childhood Education diploma program, after which she intends to pursue the joint degree option with the University of Winnipeg.
