International Student Emergency Health and Extended Health/Dental Insurance

On March 27th, the Province of Manitoba announced that it will be removing the healthcare coverage to international students (including their spouses and dependants) studying in Manitoba, effective September 1, 2018. This means that all International students in Manitoba will be responsible for obtaining and financing their own healthcare benefits.

What does this mean for you?

Red River College is committed to providing all international students with access to an affordable, comprehensive and easy to use health plan while they are pursuing their post-secondary education. RRC has partnered with the RRC Students’ Association (RRCSA) and Gallivan: Student Health and Wellness to offer an International Student Emergency Health Plan. The mandatory Plan will provide 12-months of coverage and will only cost you approximately $730.

For those international students who started a program at RRC prior to July 1, 2018, the College has decided to cover the cost of the International Student Emergency Health Plan that ends on August 31, 2018. The coverage will be in effect until the end of your program, with an additional 2 months of coverage from the end of your program, to a maximum coverage date of June 30, 2019. We are committed to supporting you while you continue your studies at RRC, and that is why we have made a choice to cover your healthcare benefits.

Important Information you need to know

This coverage does not include any of your eligible dependant family members. Should you require additional coverage for your family, you will need to make your own arrangements. You can contact Gallivan (see below) and they can provide you with further information.

In addition to the International Student Emergency Health Plan, international students will be required to purchase the RRC Student Association (RRCSA) Extended Health and Dental Plan, as this coverage is mandatory for all students at RRC. This fee is $255.

You will be charged the mandatory fees and BE automatically enrolled for the mandatory coverage once you are registered and start your program. You do not have to register or apply for the plans as they will be automatically charged. A representative from Gallivan will be in touch with you to provide further information with details on your coverage.
