Nagasaki International University
Nagasaki International University (NIU) was established through a public-private partnership between its parent organization, Kyushu Bunka Gakuen, the Prefecture of Nagasaki, the City of Sasebo, and key local stakeholders. NIU is located in Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan and employs the principle of educating the whole person and sees their mission as developing well rounded graduates who can give back to the local community. In this way, NIU continues to be a university that is relevant to the times and communities in which they live.
Red River College takes pride in this partnership as it opens the door to wide-ranging occasions for our own students to study further and explore work opportunities in Asia.
NIU celebrates its 10th Foundation Year and the institution offers the following faculties: the Department of International Tourism and Department of Social Work under the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences and the Department of Pharmacy under the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
We look forward to NIU’s first exchange of students in the next academic year. This project will be the beginning of many opportunities for RRC and NIU student, faculty and staff exchanges to follow.
Red River College and AIR have partnered for many years and students from AIR have often transferred to RRC for further studies.
In the winter of 2007, a group of 15 AIR students and two staff enjoyed their first study and cultural tour to Red River College. Although the climate produced one of the coldest weeks of the winter (average -30 Celcius), the students all enjoyed the English training and the many cultural events, including the winter festival.
The AIR students were also partnered up with RRC students from Creative Communications, International Business and Hospitality and Tourism for a variety of activities.
In June of 2007, Jeff Zabudsky, former president of Red River College, traveled to Japan and signed an agreement with the Chairman of the NSG Group of Colleges, Mr. Hiromu Ikeda. The agreement is meant to expand the relationship between Red River College and the NSG Group of Colleges.
