Red River College is currently developing a Sexual Violence Policy to ensure a working, learning and living environment that is free from sexual violence. According to the Sexual Violence Awareness and Prevention Act (Bill 15), post-secondary institutions have two main roles related to sexual violence on college and university campuses:

  • A proactive role focused on raising awareness and educating the campus community on sexual violence; and
  • A responsibility to respond, whereby institutions are to have appropriate policies and procedures to respond in the event that a student comes forward to disclose sexual violence.

To develop this policy, a working group with representatives from different College areas, as well as the Students’ Association has been meeting since early 2017. Representatives of the College also participate in a working group consisting of 12 post-secondary institutions sharing information and resources. As part of this process, consultations with RRC students and employees is extremely important to ensure that the policy is culturally sensitive and reflect the perspectives of the populations most vulnerable to sexual violence.

Please complete this online survey to have a voice on this complex matter and help RRC develop a policy that supports our ongoing efforts toward sexual violence awareness and prevention. The survey will be available until May 25, 2018.
