Health Coverage

As part of Red River College’s Flex Benefits Program, employees have coverage for a variety of Health Benefits depending on the Flex Option you are enrolled in. The Flex Options provide varying degrees of coverage for Drugs, Health, Dental, Vision and Health Care Spending Account. We would like to take this opportunity to highlight some benefits you may have coverage for under the Flexible Benefits Program.

Paramedical Coverage

Paramedical coverage is available for employees in Flex Options 2, 4, and 5 under the Flexible Benefits Program. Your coverage is based on your Flex Option choice.

The term Paramedical is used to describe medical professionals including:

  • Audiologist
  • Athletic Therapist
  • Chiropractor
  • Dietician
  • Massage Therapist
  • Naturopath
  • Osteopath
  • Podiatrist/Chiropodist
  • Psychologist/Social Worker
  • Speech Therapist

In order for your paramedical expense to be eligible, your paramedical practitioner must be licensed by the appropriate provincial or federal organization.


Vision coverage is available for employees in Flex Options 1, 2, 4 and 5 under the Flexible Benefits Program. Your coverage is based on your Flex Option choice.

The following Vision expenses are eligible to the maximum dollar amount and frequency applicable to your Flex Option:

  • Eye Examinations
  • Glasses
  • Contact Lenses
  • Laser Eye Surgery

In order for your vision expense to be eligible, services must be performed by the appropriate licensed professional.

Reimbursement of Health Care expenses is subject to maximum amounts applicable to each benefit and considers reasonable and customary charges.

Please refer to your benefits booklet to see the maximum and coinsurance applicable to each paramedical practitioner for your Flex Option.

The above is a summary of the provisions of the group plan. In the event of a discrepancy between this benefit and the master contract, the terms of the group contract will apply.

HUB Select Direct Sellers Insurance

HUB Select is a voluntary program, giving employees access to products and services at discounted or preferred rates.

The Direct Sellers Insurance Program available through HUB Select, provides coverage for business related activities experienced by direct sellers of these or similar organizations.

Unfortunately, most home based insurance riders on a home policy do not provide coverage when the seller is away from home. Outside of the home, direct sellers are exposed to risks and liabilities for property damage or bodily harm.

The Direct Sellers program covers these risks as well as business risks in the home too. This unique program has been developed by HUB International and includes:

  • $10,000 Miscellaneous Articles Floater with option to increase to $25,000:
    • Covers stock/equipment/display items wherever you are (home, vendor event, home party, etc.).
    • Includes coverage for Customers Goods.
  • $2.0 million Commercial General Liability limit with option to increase to $5.0 million.
    • Includes coverage for property damage or bodily injury for which you are legally liable.
  • $25,000 Cyber Breach Coverage.
    • Includes 1st Party coverage for compromised credit card data and customer’s personal information.
  • $1,000 Monies & Securities.
    • Includes coverage for theft of your cash float and cash payments received from customers.
  • $1,000 home office contents coverage.
