eTV Live Streaming – Chat

October 4, 2013

An integral component of eTV’s classroom live streaming is the chat feature. After extensive research, eTV customized a new chat system with updated features and a contemporary interface. This system is designed to increase participation and improve communication between students, on-site instructors, rural facilitators, and eTV staff. The new eTV Chat was launched at the start of the fall term for Nursing and Paramedicine students.

Counselor Information Session

September 20, 2013

eTV streamed the Counselor Information Session on September 19th from the Great West Life Lecture Theatre at the Roblin Centre. This marked the first time eTV has streamed live from the Exchange District Campus. Following our anytime/anywhere mandate, eTV is proud to be able to bridge the educational community across Manitoba. This information session was made available to counselors around the province, and will also be viewable on-demand.

Aboriginal Welcoming Celebration

September 13, 2013

On September 5th, the Aboriginal Student Support & Community Relations department hosted a Welcoming Celebration to help welcome back new and returning students. eTV streamed the event live from the Aboriginal Support Centre at the Notre Dame Campus to an overflow classroom as well as to students at the Exchange District Campus. eTV is happy to have participated in the event, allowing students at both campuses an opportunity to take part and watch the featured entertainment of comedian Don Burnstick.

Welcome Back to Streaming!

eTV is happy to welcome back the Primary Care Paramedicine and Nursing students for the 2013/14 academic year. After a busy summer of research and testing, eTV is excited to launch the latest version of Mediasite, as well as a brand new eTV chat program. These new technological innovations will greatly enhance the student experience with a higher quality stream, mobile access and personalized chat. eTV would like to thank all those who helped to bring these new technologies on board including Information Technology Solutions.

College Day – Gathering with the President

June 10, 2013

eTV streamed Gathering with the President as part of RRC’s College Day on Friday, June 7th in the North Gym at Notre Dame Campus. The event included president Stephanie Forsyth’s address and a Q & A session, followed by the Staff Awards Ceremony and the 75th Anniversary Kickoff. The three camera shoot provided a high-quality video that was live-streamed to participants. The video is now available on demand for those who were unable to attend.

RPL Symposium 2013

May 24, 2013

eTV was proud to host the 6th Annual RPL Symposium in Studio B on May 22nd. The event was streamed live to viewers across Manitoba, and all the way to St. John’s, Newfoundland. The RPL department, in conjunction with MPLAN, presented on a variety of topics about the recognition of prior learning in post-secondary education, all of which celebrated and recognized RPL practices at RRC and in Manitoba. Representatives from MPLAN also presented the MPLAN PEARL awards. eTV would like to extend its congratulations to Red River College and all other recipients of this prestigious award.

AED and CPR Awareness

May 10, 2013

eTV and the Environmental Safety & Health department delivered an AED and CPR presentation to educate and promote awareness of these life saving measures.

According to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, overall, the odds of surviving a cardiac arrest are almost four times greater if someone performs CPR right away. When CPR is combined with an AED and used within the first few minutes of a cardiac arrest, survival rates can increase by as much as 75 percent.

RRC Sustainability: Save $$$ and Energy in Your Home

On Tuesday March 19th, eTV, in conjunction with Red River College’s Sustainability department, streamed a live presentation by Michael Lee of Manitoba Hydro. The presentation covered the topic of being Power Smart and introduced how the “New” PAYS Financing programs can save energy and save you money!

RRC Sustainability: What’s Your Eco-Footprint?

On Tuesday, February 12th, eTV streamed a special presentation by RRC’s Sustainability Coordinator Sue Hayduk, who discussed the concept of eco-footprints. In this interactive session, participants measured their own eco-footprint and learned how small changes in their personal lives can support a more sustainable lifestyle.

RRC Winter Convocation 2013

February 12, 2013

For the first time ever, Red River College’s Winter Convocation was held at the Centennial Concert Hall on February 5th. This special occasion was streamed live by eTV and made available to those unable to attend the ceremony in person. We ensure that all family and friends, regardless of their location, are able to share in this moment with our graduates. eTV would like to extend our congratulations to all graduates and we look forward to providing live video accessibility for future ceremonies.
