Rodney Braun – Lead Instructor

Rodney Braun has been a photographer since 1999. With five solo art shows and two books to his credit, Rodney is establishing himself as an artist in Manitoba and beyond. Rodney is known for his innovative use of light, movement, and setting in depicting the human body with grace and dignity.

Well-recognized by his peers and well-loved by those he photographs, Rodney finds great satisfaction in working with people. Rodney currently teaches at RRC and was recently on the Board of the Professional Photographers of Canada. He is a two-time winner of the title “Photographer of the Year” with the Professional Photographers of Canada-Manitoba, as well as winning numerous awards nationally. He is the owner of Rodney S. Braun Photography, specializing in adventure tours and fine art.

Gavin van den Berg – Instructor

Gavin joined RRC in 2014.

His years of experience in the design industry is broad, from the creative to logistics along with collaborative and individual projects.

Gavin has extensive industry knowledge, especially in the areas of Event Planning/Promotion, Marketing, and Kitchen & Bath Design.

He was a Panel Judge for the Canadian Decorators Association as well as the Manitoba Home Builders’ Association.

Jeremy Dueck – Instructor

Jeremy has been an instructor at RRC since 2013. He develops and implements curriculum and ensures his learning materials are engaging and educational.

A multi-talented Design Professional with over 20 years of experience, Jeremy also runs Jeremy Dueck Photography Inc., specializing in commercial, wedding and portrait photography. Throughout his career he has been recognized for his dynamic creative skills and for always exceeding client expectations. He has a proven history of juggling multiple projects at the same time, ensuring all customer requirements are completed in an accurate and timely manner. He is the recipient of six Professional Photographer of Canada awards, most notably Photographer of the Year in 2007.

Joe Kerr – Instructor

Joe, an accomplished and respected fine art photographer, made his mark by redefining the rules. His award winning artistic approach to photography is reflective in his teaching style. Once a photography gallery owner in the Winnipeg Exchange District and a former board member of the WAGVA (Winnipeg Art Gallery Volunteers Association), Joe decided to share his talents as a mentor to existing and future professional photographers. Students will appreciate his in-depth knowledge in Adobe Lightroom, PhotoShop and a variety of third party editing software products.

Stan A. Kucera – Instructor

Stan has taught a wide variety of topics from Photography Entrepreneurship to Business Fundamentals to Bookkeeping and Accounting for Small Businesses. He is responsible for the full integration and execution of courses through conception, development and delivery.

He is also the Director/Owner of Grail Management, where he has an extensive background in marketing, merchandising and sales at the distribution, commercial and retail mass market levels. Stan received his Certificate in Adult Education at RRC and studied Photography at Technical Vocational High School.

Stan is an approved stock Contributor Photographer for both Shutterstock and Dreamstime agencies.

Amanda Simpson – Program Manager

After 15 years working in the telecommunication and technology industry, Amanda made the move to RRC as the program manager for the IT and Professional Studies portfolio. She is often out connecting with the community to ensure the programs are meeting industry needs.

Amanda is also a member of PMI Manitoba, IIBA Winnipeg, and the TedXWinnipeg Speaker Bureau.


Melissa Fontaine – Program Facilitator

As the program facilitator, Melissa meets with students on the first day to ensure they have what they need to be successful in the photography program. With over 20 years experience working at RRC, she ensures the programs daily operations run smoothly.

Melissa is also a mentor with the Indigenous Student Supports and Community Relations department.
