What is PaperCut

PaperCut is a software program used to manage print jobs on campus including tracking how much you have printed, when, where and cash management of each print job.

Credits can be loaded to your PaperCut account using one of three methods:

  1. At the PaperCut pay station in the atrium beside the elevators
  2. Online, as described below in View Details About Your PaperCut Account
  3. In person, at the Campus Store

Note: Once funds have been added to your PaperCut account they are non-refundable.

How to install PaperCut on your device

Note: You must be at the Red River College campus to install PaperCut.

  1. From your desktop right-click on the Windows startup button and select Run.
  2. In the Run dialogue box enter the following server address, then click OK:
    \\edacprint01.academic.rrc.ca
  3. When prompted, enter your college credentials as academic\username and your password, and select OK.
  4. Once connected to the server, navigate to the folder called PaperCut Client.
  5. Within the PaperCut Client folder double-click client-local-install to initiate the installation of PaperCut.
  6. Within the Open File – Security Warning dialogue select Run, then follow the instructions within the installer to complete the installation of PaperCut.
  7. Once the installation is complete PaperCut will automatically launch and prompt you to enter your college username and password.
  8. To view the amount of money in your PaperCut account go to the task bar on the lower right area of your screen and select the up arrow and then the PaperCut icon, this will launch the PaperCut Balance dialogue.

How to add college printers to your laptop

All college printers are named by the room in which they reside. As a Windows user be sure to only install printers that do not have the “-MAC” within its name.

  1. Connect to the college print server: \\edacprint01.academic.rrc.ca.
    Note: For instructions on how to connect to the print server follow steps 1-3 listed in the tutorial above titled: How to install PaperCut on your device.
  2. Right-click on the printer you would like to install and select Open. Installation of each printer should only take a few seconds each. Once installed the print queue window will automatically open, this window can be closed.

How to use PaperCut to send a print job

  1. In the application of your choice choose File > Print as you normally would, then choose the college printer you would like to send your print job to and select Print.
  2. The Print Job Notification window for PaperCut will automatically open providing details about the print you are about to send.
  3. Select Print to send the print job. Your PaperCut account will automatically be debited, the charge will be reflected in the PaperCut account.

View details about your PaperCut account

To view details about your account such as transaction history and recent print jobs:

  1. Within the Balance for… dialogue click on the Details… button.
  2. A browser webpage will open, log in with your college username and password.
  3. Once logged in you can see details about your PaperCut account such as transaction history and recent print jobs. You are also able to add credit to your PaperCut account.
