Red River College is continuing to modify our policies and directives in response to the guidelines announced today by the Province of Manitoba, in order to ensure that we taking the necessary steps to ensure for the health and safety of everyone at the College.
Today’s directives by the Province related to self-isolation and social distancing for COVID-19, means that Red River College (RRC) will be suspending all events and large gatherings on all RRC campuses until April 30, 2020. There is no specific number that defines a large gathering, however we are asking staff and faculty to postpone all non-essential gatherings.
Non-essential internal or external meetings should be postponed, or conducted by other means where possible until further notice. Staff and faculty are expected to work with their supervisors on work plans that adhere to these guidelines while also ensuring the College remains operational.
In addition, RRC staff are directed not to attend any external work-related events or gatherings.
This decision is in concert with Public Health advice and is a proactive measure in what is an emerging and changing situation.
Classes, labs and exams have not been cancelled at any of RRC’s campuses and we are reviewing all of these areas in concert with our business continuity plans and with advice and direction from the province.
We recognize that right now there is still a lot of uncertainly and unknowns surrounding COVID-19, and information is changing at a rapid pace. The College is continuing our work with public health authorities to provide clarity around the delivery of our services and programs. We will continue to keep you informed and modify our policies as required in the best interests of our health and safety.
These policies will be reviewed regularly and updated in accordance with the advice from the Province of Manitoba.

That means we may not have immediate answers but we will be sharing updated information and changes in policies and guidelines throughout today and in the coming days.
Red River College is closely monitoring the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak by staying in contact with Manitoba Health and the Public Health Agency of Canada. As of March 5, the risk to Manitobans and Canadians remains low. There have been no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Manitoba.
However, we recognize that many of you are concerned about the outbreak and its repercussions. We share your concerns and remain committed to updating you as the situation evolves.
How RRC is responding to COVID-19
Red River College is activating its Incident Management Team on Monday, March 16 to guide and coordinate the College’s response to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak. While the risk to Canada/Manitoba and Red River College continues to remain low, the College is taking this early step to ensure that we are well-prepared to support you, along with our staff and students as the world continues to respond to the outbreak.
Facilities and Campus Services is continuing to maintain all cleaning and sanitizing measures throughout our campuses, and additional products and disinfectants have been added to inventories to ensure we can maintain and expand these efforts as required.
At this time, our activities related to COVID-19 are focused purely on prevention. We do not anticipate any disruptions to College operations. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and keep you informed.
