The following message was sent to all Red River College students, faculty and staff this morning from Melanie Gudmundson, Chief Human Resources Officer:
Red River College has updated the COVID-19 policy to expand the requirements for the use of masks on-campus.
Effectively immediately, all students, staff and visitors on Campus will be required to wear a mask while in meeting or work spaces with other members of the College community at all times. Previously, the policy on mask use allowed individuals who were practicing social distancing within a meeting or work space to remove their masks.
The policy has been expanded to require the use of masks for those who work in cubicles and open office spaces while sitting at their workspace. Individuals working alone in a private space with the door closed will be permitted to remove their mask.
Additionally, if individuals are gathering outdoors on-campus for a meeting, break, or conversation, the wearing of masks outdoors will now be required. This decision has been made based on Dr. Brent Roussin’s latest recommendations.
Masks may be removed for eating or drinking, but individuals should take measures to ensure physical distancing and limit the amount of time the mask is removed.
The College has made these decisions to take further steps to reduce the risk of the spread of COVID-19. As part of our evolving response to COVID-19 to keep the College community safe, we are continuing to adapt our response due to the risks associated with the known variants of concern. Public Health continues to advise that variants of concerns have a higher level of transmission and as a result following the fundamentals continue to be a critical step in protecting the College community.
Thank you for continuing to do your part to keep each other safe.
