Red River College Polytechnic offers High School courses in a variety of subject areas.

Whether you are looking to start, continue or finish your education, Red River College Polytechnic is here to help you. At the Steinbach Adult Learning Centre, you have the option to take one or a few high school courses to upgrade your education or career, or pursue a Mature Student Diploma.

High School Courses

It is never too late to take high school courses that will contribute towards your post-secondary education aspirations, or upgrade your skills to advance in your career.

At the RRC Polytech Steinbach Adult Learning Centre, we are here to help you improve your skills and get the credentials you need.

Upon successful completion of the courses, you will be provided with a transcript. Additional transcripts can be ordered at any time. If you are looking to apply for post-secondary education, finish high school or advance in your career, this is the right option for you!

If you’ve already completed Grade 12, you can take up to four courses for $30 per course.

Mature Student Diploma Program

Red River College Polytechnic offers a variety of High School courses for students seeking to attain a Mature Student High School Diploma.

To qualify for the program you must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be a mature student of at least 19 years of age within school calendar year if you are coming to finish a Mature Grade 12 high school diploma.
  • Have been out of school for at least one full year AND must have been out of school long enough for his/her class to have graduated from high school.
  • To obtain a Mature Grade 12 high school diploma you must complete a minimum of eight credits to be eligible for high school standing. You can use credits at the 10, 11 and 12 level from your previous education.
  • Four of these credits must be at the Senior 4 level (grade 12). Two of these Senior 4 (Grade 12) credits must include Senior 4 English Language Arts and a Senior 4 Mathematics.

No person shall retroactively obtain Mature High school standing. That is, no person can claim automatic rights to a mature student graduation diploma.

Requirements

  • If you intend to use credits from a previous year of education, an official transcript from your previous school or Manitoba Education student records is required for all new applicants.
  • Level placement testing at the office (by appointment) may be required before selecting classes.
  • All courses offered by the ALC are subject to minimum enrolment.
  • To qualify for the Mature Student diploma program, you must:
    • Be a mature student of at least 19 years of age in the school calendar year, and
    • Have been out of school for at least one full year.
  • To obtain a Mature Student High School diploma, you must complete a minimum of eight credits, where four of these credits must be at the Grade 12 level and two of the Grade 12 credits must include the English Language Arts 40S course and a Math 40S course.
  • A mature student graduation diploma can’t be earned solely on the basis of courses previously credited in high school.

Fees

All students pay a Material fee of $30 per course.

If you already have a Grade 12 Diploma up to four courses can be taken at the funded rate of $30/course. Beginning with the fifth credit, if you have a Grade 12 Diploma, students will be required to pay $312 per course.

Fees for courses are non-refundable.

We understand your lifestyle may require more flexibility in when and where you take our courses. That is why we have a selection of evening and online courses. Our consistent weekly schedule also makes it easy for you to take our courses with little disruption to your routine.
