Employees leaving the corporate cellular plan (College to personal)

If you are leaving the corporate cellular plan, you can choose from the following three options: (1) Departing employee process, (2) Bell Mobility transfer of responsibility, or (3) Port out.

Departing employee process

You must return all College‑issued mobile devices to the College when you leave. The College will either reassign the device with a new mobile number and it will remain active on the RRC Polytech account, or it will cancel the service and buyout charges may apply.

If you transferred responsibility of your existing personal mobile device to the College’s corporate account, you can retain your device when you leave the College.

Transfer of responsibility – College to personal

You can retain your mobile number with Bell Mobility, and it will cancel your mobile number on the RRC Polytech account. This option applies only if you do not have an existing contract; otherwise, RRC Polytech will be subject to buyout charges. (The College will not incur any costs associated with transferring a phone number.)

The College may not permit the transfer of the number if it has become a general use number for the College or is published in association with the College.

If you have any questions, please contact the Telecommunications Coordinator.

Port out

You can take your mobile number outside of Bell Mobility, and it will automatically suspend your number from the RRC Polytech account and cancel it after the next bill date. Authorization to release your mobile number is valid for only 30 days. After that time, Bell Mobility will cancel your service and buyout charges may apply. (The College will not incur any costs associated with transferring a phone number.)

If you have any questions, please contact the Telecommunications Coordinator.

Transferring in a mobile device & number (personal to College)

You can use your existing personal mobile device and number on the College corporate account. Please refer to the Bell Mobility transfer of responsibility and Port in sections below for more information. In this case, the mobile device will remain your property if you leave the College.

To transfer in a mobile device and number, the following conditions apply:

  • Your device must meet the minimum technology requirements.
  • You are responsible for any existing contracts and fees from the transferring provider.
  • You are responsible for all transfer costs.
  • Your device is subject to College oversight and control in the same manner as a College‑issued mobile device.

If you have any questions, please contact the Telecommunications Coordinator.

Transfer of responsibility – Personal to College

You can give RRC Polytech permission to move your Bell Mobility mobile number to the RRC Polytech account. If the device is on contract, you are responsible for any buyout charges on your final invoice. Once processed, the mobile number will become the property of RRC.

If you leave the College, you can retain your number if it is not a general use number for the College or published in association with the College. Please see the Employees leaving the corporate cellular plan section or contact the Telecommunications Coordinator for more information.

Port in

You can give RRC Polytech permission to move your mobile number from any carrier to the RRC Polytech account. If your device is on contract, you are responsible for any buyout charges on your final invoice. Once processed, the mobile number will become the property of RRC.

If you leave the College, you can retain your number if it is not a general use number for the College or published in association with the College. Please see the Employees leaving the corporate cellular plan section or contact the Telecommunications Coordinator for more information.

NOTE: The Telecommunications Coordinator performs monthly reviews of invoices to ensure accuracy and notifies users and vendors of any billing issues.
