Advanced Manufacturing Courses

These skills are in demand and can be immediately applied on the job, in a range of industries and sectors including finance, public (government), education, manufacturing and more.

Siemens Mechatronics Systems Certification Program

RRC Polytech has partnered with global technology powerhouse, Siemens to offer the Siemens Mechatronics Systems Certification Program (SMSCP), and is the first post-secondary in Manitoba to offer Siemens Level 1 and Level 2 Mechatronics Systems Certification.

Admission Requirements

In order to be admitted, the following requirements must be met:

  • High school diploma or a minimum of three years of industry work experience
  • Basic knowledge of algebra

Program Levels

The program consists of three levels:

Level 1: Certified Mechatronic Systems Assistant

A Siemens Certified Mechatronic Systems Assistant will function as a well-rounded machine operator in a complex system, with responsibility for efficient operation of the equipment with minimal downtimes.

Typical work environments include plant assembly sites, workshops or in connections with service operations which utilize complex mechatronic systems.

Level 1 Topics

Educational content will cover the following topics:

  • Electrical components
  • Mechanical components and electrical drives
  • (Electro) pneumatic and hydraulic control circuits
  • Digital fundamentals and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
Level 1 Benefits

Upon successful completion of all four Level 1 micro-credential courses — with the first two being offered in February 2024 — you will unlock the following benefits:

  • Awarded the Level 1 Certified Mechatronic Systems Assistant micro-credential
  • Eligible to write the SMSCP certification exam, which awards a Level 1 certification from Siemens upon successful completion; note that there is a separate fee to take the exam

Level 2: Certified Mechatronics Systems Associate

Level 2 will be available in 2024-2025.

Level 3: Certified Mechatronics Systems Professional

Level 3 will be available at a later date, to be determined.
